David Koch
David Koch has loved art ever since he
was in grade school but didn’t realize that he could also make a living at it until
his second year at Utah State University. Graduating in 1989 with an illustration
degree he worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for several companies for
the next seven years. David’s passion for fine art started soon after graduation
and he started selling his artwork with a local gallery. As the demand grew for his
paintings David began to formulate a plan where he could devote more time to painting
and in 1996 David quit his full time job and started his own graphic design business
with the intent of setting aside more time for painting. Three years later David
realized that his business was successful but he had had even less time to paint
than before, so with some savings in the bank David decided to take the leap of faith
and as of January 1999 David is devoting his full efforts to the fine art that is
his passion.
“I enjoy painting various subjects including figures, still lifes and landscapes.
I try to capture the intimate aspects in my paintings and make the painting say more
than just the objects being painted.” David also strives to say as much as he can
about a subject with the fewest brush strokes. “I never cease to be amazed at how
a few well placed brush strokes can say so much,” he says.
David, his wife Lori and five children, Thomas, Hannah, Megan, Mitchell and Mallory
have a home and studio in Richmond, Utah. “I am very blessed to be doing what I love
while enjoying the support and company of my family. I am very excited about the
future where there is so much to learn and discover.”

UTAH ARTIST PRESENTS PAINTING TO VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY
BOUNTIFUL, UTAH – Bountiful-based painter David Koch was selected by the Utah Republican
Party to paint a painting which was presented to Vice President Dick Cheney at the
GOP Convention held in August. “I am very honored to be selected for this commission”
says Koch. “This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.“ Koch, however, is not
unfamiliar with this type of honor. He was also commissioned by Governor Leavitt
to produce a painting for the inauguration at the beginning of this year.
David Koch is a full-time oil painter who’s impressionistic painting style is attracting
the attention of local and national collectors. Some of the artist’s most popular
works are his historic pioneer and religious themes, some of which have recently
been selected to hang in the LDS Nauvoo Temple. Dramatic landscapes, elegant still
lifes and energetic street scenes also demonstrate the broad range of this artist.

Koch.
